DOMBIVLI based Ganesh Mandir Sansthan's Navvarsha Swagat Yatra Sanyojak Committee organised the Shobha Yatra (A procession on Gudi Padwa) to welcome the Hindu New Year on March 16.  Shobha Yatra symbolises the cultural unity, brotherhood and positive attitude which ushers the New Year.  The organisation initiated the concept of Shobha Yatra in Dombivli 12 years ago, which is a trendsetter for the rest of the State to follow.  Alongwith the Shobha Yatra, the organization also organised cultural, educational, social events and competitions in Dombivli and adjoining areas.

I am bringing to all of you photos of the Shobha Yatra taken by me.  I was privileged to be witnessing some of the amazing processions held in Dombivli, my hometown.

Ya Kamathji

Come over to Dombivli next year for Gudi Padva
We would love you playing the flute.
Dombivli is a very cultural town, in fact called second cultural capital of Maharashtra after Pune.
So many writers, theatre actors reside in Dombivli.

Dear Suresh Bhai,

WOW!!! Lovely Pics of Shobha Yatra. I liked community spirit in Dombivli. Very colorful floats. You have done a wonderful job of photography. I wish I was there to play some Folk Songs on my Flute along with Dholak players I see in the procession. I also see there was a cultural program on the stage. Lot of FUN and ENJOYMENT! Please keep up the SPIRIT!

WELL DONE!!

Regards,
DR. Kamath

Hi Sir

thanks for your comments
ya, you are right
digital cameras save a lot of headache
I remember the tensions with my old camera.
As I would wait anxiously for the photos developed
from the studio
Photography was never my cup of tea:-)

cheers

I am happy you do not belong to the "brevity is the soul of wit brigade".  In Tamil Surunga Cholli Vilanga Vaikkira Group.  Since you shoot digital, it matters very little, cost wise.  When we use film and positives evey single exposure makes us think twice before we click the scene.  I am sure you will learn the fascinating art of editing photographs in due course.

All the best.

Vaidyanathan Pushpagiri.
