Ab To Mazhab Koi Aisa Bhi Chalaya Jaaye

Poetry on Brotherhood, Harmony and Integration

by Gopal Das Neeraj

Ab To Mazhab Koi Aisa Bhi Chalaya Jaaye

Ab to mazhab koi aisa bhi chalaya jaaye
Jisme insaan ko insaan banaya jaaye

Aag behti hai yahan, Ganga mein bhi Zamzam mein bhi
Koi batlaaye kahan jaa ke nahaya jaaya
Ab to mazhab koi aisa bhi chalaya jaaye...

Mera maqsad hai yeh mehfil rahe roshan yunhi
Khoon chahe mera deepon mein jalaya jaaye
Ab to mazhab koi aisa bhi chalaya jaaye...

Mere dukh-dard ka tujh par ho asar kuch aisa
Main rahun bhookha to tujhse bhi naa khaya jaaye
Ab to mazhab koi aisa bhi chalaya jaaye...

Jism do ho ke bhi dil ek hon apne aise
Mera aansun teri palkon se uthaya jaaye
Ab to mazhab koi aisa bhi chalaya jaaye...

Geet gumsum hai, ghazal chup hai, rubaayi bhi dukhi
Aise maahaul mein 'Neeraj' ko bulaya jaaye
Ab to mazhab koi aisa bhi chalaya jaaye...

-- Gopal Das Neeraj

Neeraj recites the poem:

[P.S. Ganges water is considered sacred by the Hindus. Similarly Zamzam is considered sacred by the Muslims. Source of Zamzam was miraculously generated by angel Jibril. Zamzam well is located in Mecca.  Click here to read more about Zamzam. Kavi Neeraj gives the message of brotherhood and harmony through this poem. It is sad that a poem like this is still relevant....years after it was penned. Enjoy the poetry. ]

hi mu,

charan sparsh apne se bujurko ke liye ya jo kaafi adarniye apne se umar mein bahut bade hoon unhi ko mein charan sparsh karna uchit maanta hoon. aap to mere dost hai, samkakch hai.to dost ko yoon kahiye ke namaskaar ya pranam, ya phir angregi culture mein hey, hi, hello sabhi chalta hai.
to ye raha apke pratham statement ka jawab.

dusra ke aapne yeh zikr kiyaa ke mein jabtak apke kavita per comment nahin karoonga aap mere peecle comment ko nahin delete karenge. to aapke kavita per to mein bahut khubsurat comment pahle hi kar chukaa hoon. meine to kavita ki gehrayi per hi pure vichar ka barnan kar diyaa. lekin phir bhi aap ikchhaa zahir karti hain to mein kahoonga aapka kavita superb hai!.

it’s really brilliant which is very very educative and in this present era, it is as equal as medicine to diverted, narrow minded people. once upon a time in medieval history, emperor, akbar the great started din-e-elahi in order to understand and maintain the integrity among people as a common religion. and, i hope your poem too has the same depth and concept to understand and realize the importance of love, peace, harmony and integrity through influence of common mazhab for all. the theme is fantastic!

i once again tried to open the audio file but i failed to listen the song.

i will try to read the poems of hari om pawar. first time, i came to know about him.

regards,
mukesh

you like sarcasm? anyway this blogspace is not meant for debates or verbal wars. thanks for the explanation. if great writers like nirala are being ignored by the masses our educational system should be blamed. children are forced to concentrate more on marks. when do they get the time to develop a taste for the finer things like poetry? surprisingly even students of literature don't read well. they limit their selection to text books prescribed in the syllabus. what say? so much can be said... let's keep it for next time. thanks and regards.

learned ms utterances,
i won't take it as an offence-did you indulge in self-praise by indirectly saying that you are a "prolific reader" who understands works of the likes of neeraj, nirala and jigar moradabadi? just curious to know.''
i don't have to explain to a learned lady(may be a public personality) that satsanghathi helps!
i am a good reader but a mediocre communicator!
a shy human being who can only be friends with word!
what i am trying to convey is -nirala ,jigar and niraj are nolonger being appreciated.
those who appreciate them are either scholars like you or lay learners like ashish dimri!
warm regards,
yours,
ashish dimri

i know about 'zamzam' as i drank it a few times when my friends returned home from haj. read the rest online.

i have a special liking for neeraj's style of recitation....it adds to the beauty of the thought and expression in his poetry. i'm glad that you liked this audio/poem.

neeraj is gem of a poet. :))) thanks to him i'm getting all the priase. ;))

you rightly pointed out that even after many decades our relationships with the neighbouring country are sour. it is sad that the poem penned long time time back by neeraj is still relevant.  i'm glad to know that you enjoyed his recitation of 'ab to mazhab koi...' thanks and regards.

you made a few statements but they seem so disconnected. may be i failed to understand your intelligent observations and remarks...stupid that i am.

did you indulge in self-praise by indirectly saying that you are a "prolific reader" who understands works of the likes of neeraj, nirala and jigar moradabadi? just curious to know.

i think all three writers that you mentioned (including neeraj) write in entirely different forms and style. jigar moradabdi wrote in urdu and penned only poetry (as far as i know). suryakant tripathi nirala was not just a poet but also a novelist, short story writer, essayist and translator too. nirala stands for an era of hindi literature. neeraj's poetry is easy to understand and grasp. his love poems stand apart though his works on varied topics are also commendable.

talking about 'tragic fate' if you referred to nirala's psychological problems in the later part of his life then you may be right. i think scholars wouldn't care much for 'fate'.

did you mean that 'public personalities' are 'prolific readers'?..... i think of the politicians of a glorified nation.....***sigh***

i was expecting comments on the poem. thanks and regards.

i'm glad you didn't think of 'charan sparsh' as a better way of "wishing" someone accroding to "hindustani sabhyata aur sanskrati".

i agree with you...if only the separatists and fundamentalists understand that every religion teaches about harmonious living, brotherhood and peace. those who belive in love and compassion can't inflict terror. it's high time our 'neighbour' understands what's good for them. else india is prepared to handle another kargil.

have you read/heard hari om pawar? if you haven't then you should. his poems on the kashmis issue are particularly very popular. you would get some stuff online too.

about deleting your comment... well....i wouldn't do that until you would post your comment on this poem.  :)))  thanks and regards.

neeraj is not a lyricist. i wonder what made him write songs for hindi films. he has always been popular and still has a huge fan following. i have posted a bouquet of songs penned by neeraj for films like prem pujari, tere mere sapne, kanyadaan, sharmilee. you are welcome to check the same by clicking here. i'm glad that you liked this poem of neeraj. thanks and regards.
