Lord Shiva and his birth

According to hindu mythology lord shiva is the destroyer in the main three supreme god. There are three supreme gods 1st one is Lord Shiva, Second one is Brahma and third one Vishnu. Lord shiva is the destroyer and also have a positive side in that destruction usual leads to new forms of existence. Lord shiva is described in art with four hand, four faces and three eyes. The third eye always keep this power to destroy the creation, not only creation including gods and humans. In the Vedas, a collection of ancient sacred texts, lord shiva is identified with the storm god Rudra.

How the birth of Lord Shiva?

There is a very interesting story behind the birth of lord shiva. One day brahma and Vishnu both are arguing about which of them are more powerful. That time one great blazing pillar appear which root and branches extended beyond view into the earth and sky. Now both god Brahma and Vishnu start to find out the start and end of that pillar. Brahma turned into goose and flew up to find the top of the pillar, while Vishnu turned into a boar and dug into the earth to look for its roots. After unsuccessful both came back and seen that there is a god Lord Shiva emerged from an opening in the pillar. Recognizing Shiva’s great power, they both god accepted that there is the third power who rules over the inverse.

What is the Roles and Power of Lord Shiva?

Lord shiva is a very complex god having many roles and power. If we will talk of his destroyer role lord shiva often hunts cemeteries, wearing a headdress of snakes and a necklace of skulls. A band of terrifying demos, hungering for blood, accompanies him. Shiva can help human as well as god also. Lord Shiva acts a divine judge who shows no mercy to the wicked. Lord Shiva gain the spiritual strength from periods of meditation – deep though – in the Himalayas. When god shiva dance, he represents truth, and by dancing he banishes ignorance and helps relieve the suffering of his follows. According to one myth, Shiva saved the gods and the world from destruction by swallowing the poison of Vasuki, a serpent the gods used to produce the water of life. Drinking the poison made Shiva's neck blue, and he is often shown that way in art. One of Shiva's greatest services to the world was to tame the sacred Ganges River, which flows from the Himalayas. At one time, the Ganges passed only through the heavens, leaving the earth dry. After a wise man changed the course of the river, it became a raging torrent and threatened to flood the earth. Shiva stood beneath the river and let its waters wind through his hair to calm its flow.

In another story, the gods were threatened by demons and asked Shiva for help. He agreed—on the condition that the gods lend him some of their own strength. However, after defeating the demons, Shiva refused to return the borrowed strength. As a result, he became the most powerful being in the universe. Shiva also has many weapons that make him unbeatable, including a club with a skull on the end, a sword and spear made from thunderbolts, and a bow made from a rainbow.

Every supreme soul or every god is having its unique importance... We should not compare them... that is why they all are together called as Brahma Vishnu Mahesh the ultimate n supreme power in the universe...!

There is a very popular saying - "Little Knowledge Is A Dangerous Thing"We read something from somewhere and then just stick to it, without even realizing that we are actually hurting our God(be it Brhama, Vishnu or Mahesh) by comparing them.We dont have the right to compare them at all.I am a Shiv Bhakth but I think and I belive that I must definitely be an ansh of Lord Vishnu and thats why I am a Shiv Bhakth. And similarly those who are devotees are Lord Vishnu/Krishna/Rama etc must be a Shivansh and thats why they are what they are. So please instead of getting into all these useless debates about comparing the three Supreme powers, lets concentrate on one, respect others and just start worshipping without wasting time any more. Life is too short and we should make full use of it so that we make or God happy.Lets not make God sad by uttering such foolish and senseless things wherein we go ahead and compare them. If you really love Lord Shiva, then please please start respecting Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma and others and viceversa.

There is a error in this story, when this happened there was no existence of Earth. And yes the Three Lord are same. Shiv ling has three part Base is Brahma, Middle Portion is Vishnu and top Part is Shiv.Nature has three stage, one is creation, next is preserve and Destruction after destruction it is again it is same power which in form of Brahma create, in form of Vishnu Preserve and in form of Shiv destroy.Shiv Purana never leads to hell it is misconception it is how people take puran in their life.Purana are Knowledge just like in life people always love to be happy or to live for ever, which is not possible in same way Purana Knowledge has to be taken if one has to attain Moksh through Knowledge. It is foolish that people say that the three are different when Lord himself said many time they are same.ORIGINAL statement --- Lord Vishnu tells King Daksha (father of Sati) --- “He who of the three ((Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva)) having ONE NATURE, verily, of the Supersoul in all beings, DOES NOT SEE THE SEPARATENESS, o brahmin, realizes the peace.”Daksha ! if a Vishnu devotee degrades lord Shiva and if a Shiva devotee degrades lord Vishnu, then BOTH THESE TYPE OF DEVOTEES will automatically get all the ‘curses’ that have been given to you and these types of devotees will remain devoid of tattva gyaan.” i.e. the highest spiritual knowledge. In the Lanka Kaanda, LORD RAMA ESTABLISHES THE RAMESHWARA SHIVA LINGA AND WORSHIPS LORD SHIVA before proceeding on to the battle.Lord Rama declares that – “If a person degrades lord Shiva and calls himself My devotee; and if a person degrades lord Rama/Vishnu and calls himself Shiva devotee, THEN THAT PERSON IS A FOOL, HELL-RESIDER AND POOR-MINDED.”

Mr Jai

Have you read Shivpuran ???? Or have you seen hell???

If not then don't misguide people here. I have gone through Shivpuran as well as Bhagvatapuran and Vishnupuran. SHIVPURAN says Lord Shiva is supreme. Bhagvatapuran says Lord Krishna is supreme. And Vishnupuran says Lord Vishnu is supreme.

It's upto you to select the form of God and meditate On him to achieve salvation. so don't misguide people here

Lord Shiva existed for ever. Before creation it was only Lord Shiva who existed and nothing else. Lord Shiva is the supreme god who existed before creation. He was alone and desired to be many thus he started creation with Brahma, Vishnu, and other gods and goddesses. This is what according to Sivapuranam. So each and every particle in the universe is a particle of Lord Shiva and that is why there is a saying " Aham Brahmasmi". Everyone is god but needs self realization.

Suggestion: Call it Puranam not mythology.

So there is no way Brahma and Vishnu exist without Lord Shiva.

However the above incident involving Brahma and Vishnu refers to how Lord Shiva got Linga rupam ( shape ). While Brahma and Vishnu had argument on who was greater,Lord Shiva appeared as a light or fire pillar ( which has no start or no end ) appeared between them. Both Brahma and Vishnu could not find the ends of the pillar and had no clue about it and finally Lord Shiva himself appeared between them and they realized who the supreme god.

But it is a sin to compare Shiva and Vishnu, They both are same and must not be compared.

The pillar that appeared, according to Puranas had different shapes in each Yuga. It is none other than the mountain in Thiruvannamalai ( Annamalai) in Tamilnadu, thus circumambulation ( pradakshina ) around this mount provides extraordinary result as the sins of past lives get washed upon doing it.
