Lord Shiva existed for ever. Before creation it was only Lord Shiva who existed and nothing else. Lord Shiva is the supreme god who existed before creation. He was alone and desired to be many thus he started creation with Brahma, Vishnu, and other gods and goddesses. This is what according to Sivapuranam. So each and every particle in the universe is a particle of Lord Shiva and that is why there is a saying " Aham Brahmasmi". Everyone is god but needs self realization.
Suggestion: Call it Puranam not mythology.
So there is no way Brahma and Vishnu exist without Lord Shiva.
However the above incident involving Brahma and Vishnu refers to how Lord Shiva got Linga rupam ( shape ). While Brahma and Vishnu had argument on who was greater,Lord Shiva appeared as a light or fire pillar ( which has no start or no end ) appeared between them. Both Brahma and Vishnu could not find the ends of the pillar and had no clue about it and finally Lord Shiva himself appeared between them and they realized who the supreme god.
But it is a sin to compare Shiva and Vishnu, They both are same and must not be compared.
The pillar that appeared, according to Puranas had different shapes in each Yuga. It is none other than the mountain in Thiruvannamalai ( Annamalai) in Tamilnadu, thus circumambulation ( pradakshina ) around this mount provides extraordinary result as the sins of past lives get washed upon doing it.
OM Namah Sivaya
Yes Hari Haras are equal...show variation between them is a sin...dont do that as a devotee
how can our sillly mind understand or judge the greatness of lord shiva '''' even a single step is predefined >>>> shiv is supreme he is the god of trimurti in which shiva is directly proportional to shiv ...... in all he is________________________ !!
All three gods are same just that they are different forms for different people, however in Lord Shiva's form he is supreme for following reasons
1. He is least bothered with wearing gold or other decorative articles and costumes; Lord Vishu and Lord Bramha don't follow this, one who is supreme and ultimate needs nothing, he in fact renounces all.
2. Only Lord Shiva has sons - Lord Ganesha, Lord Subramanya and Lord Ayappa, who are worshiped as Gods, that's the reason why you see most of the Wedding Invitation cards have Lord Shiva on it.
3. Only Lord Shiva posses the power to grant any boon to his devotees, no matter he is demon or manush, where as Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma are constrained in giving boon.
All in all, all three gods are same, just that in Lord Shiva's avtaar he is Supreme and Ultimate, as i read in somewhere, Lord Shiva worships Lord Vishnu, and Lord Vishnu worships Lord Shiva; hence those born under Lord Vishnu's amsh/yoga love Lord Shiva and vice versa.
the creator of everything even god demon human as well as universe is lord Shiva the most powerful god of all gods also known as Mahadev.
